COLLECTION OF CUSTOMER INFORMATION
In order to establish your account or to place any orders for products provided through the Service, you will be asked to provide certain personally identifiable information to us, such as contact information (such as name, email address, phone number, billing address and shipping address) and financial information (such as credit card number and expiration date).
IP ADDRESSES AND COOKIES
Partybasics uses IP Addresses and Cookies in limited ways, as follows:
IP Addresses: An IP address is literally your computer’s address and is a unique identifier, allowing online information to be sent to the right place. We use IP addresses to better understand the customer database. We use your IP address to help diagnose problems with our server and to administer our website (the “Site”). Your IP address is also used to gather broad demographic information such as geographic distribution of our members. We do not intentionally link your IP address to your personally identifiable information.
A cookie is a piece of data stored on the user’s computer tied to information about the user. We use persistent cookies. A persistent cookie is a small text file stored on the user’s hard drive for an extended period of time. Persistent cookies can be removed by following Internet browser help file directions.
Cookies are used by both Partybasics and the Partybasics order section in order to uniquely identify users, associate user files with orders, and to enable the shopping basket.
Advice on Limiting Cookies: You always have a choice with respect to cookies. By modifying your browser preferences, you can accept all cookies, be notified when a cookie is set or reject all cookies. However, cookies allow you to take full advantage of some of Partybasics’s best features, so it is beneficial to leave them turned on. If you choose to reject all cookies, you may be unable to use certain Partybasics services. Please consult your browser instructions for information on how to modify your choices about cookies.
USE/SHARING OF CUSTOMER INFORMATION
Partybasics also collects order detail information and customer preferences for promotions or site enhancements. When you place an order, make a purchase, or save your information online, we may use your Customer Information to send you information about our products, services, and promotions and to help us learn more about your shopping preferences. If you participate in a promotion, we may use your Customer Information to send you e-mails, postal mail, or telephone regarding our products, services and promotions, such as Partybasics’s New Promotions, New How-To’s and other content, New Templates, and New Products & Capabilities. These communications are only sent to users who have decided to receive such information. In addition, we may use information about you and your product interests and purchases from us to help us improve our Website design and your online shopping experiences.
Partybasics may disclose information it has collected from any member of the Service and/or content any member has made available on the Service when it believes in good faith that the law or legal process requires it, or when it is necessary to do so to protect the rights or property of Partybasics or others.
THIRD PARTY SERVICE PROVIDERS
We may share your personally identifiable information with those companies that assist us in providing the Service to you. Following are some examples of our use of third party service providers: We may share your credit card information with a financial institution we use to effect your purchase of our products using your credit card. We may share personally identifiable information (not including credit card information) an e-marketing firm that assists us with the administration of our Site, promotional newsletters and emails, and that helps us understand what our customers want and need from our service, including analysis of the results of particular surveys we may perform. We may share personally identifiable information (not including credit card information) with outside shipping companies we utilize to deliver your product orders. These third party service providers have limited access to certain personally identifiable information needed to perform their functions, but may not retain, share, store or use your information for any secondary purposes. We may also choose to offer certain third party products, that we do not produce at our facility, through the Service and may disclose certain portions of your personally identifiable information (not including credit card information) to allow those product producers to fulfill your product order.
Our users are given the opportunity to ‘opt-out’ of having their information used for purposes directly related to our site at the point where we ask for information. For example, our order form/account set up has an ‘opt-out’ mechanism so users who buy products from us, but don’t want any marketing material, can keep their email address off of our list.
Users who no longer wish to receive our newsletter and promotional communications may opt-out of receiving these communications by replying to unsubscribe in the subject line in the email or email us at email@example.com.
The security and privacy of your online purchase is of the utmost importance to us. When users submit sensitive information to us via our Site, their information is protected both online and offline.
We also do everything in our power to protect user-information off-line. All of our users’ information, not just the sensitive information mentioned above, is restricted in our offices. Only employees who need the information to perform a specific job are granted access to personally identifiable information.
Customer Information is stored on a secure server. The server is maintained in a high-security environment.
Although we use industry standard practices to protect your privacy, we do not promise, and you should not expect, that your personally identifiable information or private communications will always remain private.
Upon placing an order, we will send you an email confirming the order. We will also send you an email as soon as the order is shipped. This allows you to keep track of your order and its progress. If you receive a confirmation for an order you did not place, please email us immediately at firstname.lastname@example.org.
NOTIFICATION OF CHANGES
If, however, we are going to use users’ personally identifiable information in a manner different from that stated at the time of collection we will notify users via email. Users will have a choice as to whether or not we use their information in this different manner.
If customers have opted out of all communication with the site, or deleted/deactivated their account, then they will not be contacted, nor will their personal information be used in this new manner. In addition, if we make any material changes in our privacy practices that do not affect user information already stored in our database, we will post a prominent notice on our Web site notifying users of the change.
If Partybasics goes through a business transition, such as a merger, acquisition by another company, or sale of a portion of our assets, users’ personal information will, in most instances, be part of the assets transferred. If as a result of the business transition, the users’ personally identifiable information will be used in a manner different from that stated at the time of collection they will be given choice consistent with our notification of changes section.
